Well i did some reading and research but now i am just looking for peoples personal experiences. Who makes the best shocks in your opinion? Im looking to upgrade as the stock shocks on my summit are not the best. As far as my riding style i do mostly backcountry stuff riding the trees and playing in meadows n stuff. I do alil jumping and stuff but mostly just like riding deep snow and through the trees. Thanks in advance for any info/suggestions.

Call Tom from Tom's snowmobile 1-530-862-1128. He knows his shocks!! If the shocks on your sled are rebuild able then he could help you on that as well.

Thx. Will do. Also im 99% sure my shocks are not rebuildable. I got a sp and i think only the x package has the rebuildable shocks.

Ya i put most my miles on in the mtns so thats what im looking for. Which floats do you have?

I've been running the floats since my 04 Summit rev. Never had one blow.
I have been running Tom Evolution Air since my 08 xp with the Float Evol's all around. Have had nothing but good dealings with Tom and the fox floats.

Bad thing about floats is they end a day quick when one goes. Yes I have had one go, not fun. Tough question, it all depends on what type of riding you do. I like exit shocks, KYB and floats but for all different reasons.

For those of you who have had the fox floats blow out. What were you doing when it went? Jumping, droping, or did it just to out from wear and tear while riding?

Also those of you with fox floats. How much adjusting do they take? Do you have to mess with them all the time or do u just check them before the ride each day make your adjustments and then your good for the day?

I have fox evol r shocks up front, and a tom's evo air kit out back (float front track and evol r rear track). They are nicely adjustable and can take a beating. They should be serviced every once in a while, but all in all I'm very happy. Haven't had a shock fail yet, but proper service helps. Fox makes a great product, plus resale is pretty good. The evol r shocks also benefit from the extra chamber, which can be adjusted for bottom out and rebound. If you want to splurge, the evol x shocks have even more adjustability. Don't think those are really necessary for mountain riding though... Seems more suited to racing applications IMO.

I have the fox float 3's with kashima coating on the front of my xm. I am most likely going to upgrade them with the evol chambers to give me some more adjustment. Been working great for me as they are but I would benefit from them even more by being able to set my ride height seperately. 8 years ago when I raced quads I also had the fox float evol x with dsc on the front of my race quad. The adjustability of the shocks and awesome ride literally made me a faster rider.

I ride my xm in the U.P. of Michigan. Ride powder, trees, whooped out paths, and little jumping when opportunity presents itself. Just like any other wear parts on your sled, take care of them and service them and shouldn't have any problems.

I got Zbroz Exits on my T-3 bought them through Ian at Monster perf. They were also setup to his specs and Damn there nice! I would try to pinpoint what you dont like about your stock shocks, maybe you dont want to bottom out as much, but you also want a plusher ride. Maybe your a jumper and you want to a setup for hucking 30 ft drops. Maybe you just want to get the plushiest most cofy riding snowmobilie out there for trail riding.

Once you find out what you want, and want you dont like about the stockers, then call up a shock expert like Ian or Tom and see what they have to say...

I don't know about the best, but I went with the Fox Float 3 EVOL's ( not the R or RC2's ) on the front of my SP. and the EVOL R / 1.5 Zero on the rear.

I bought them from Toms and told him my weight and he gave me air settings and rebound/compression settings to use. He also pre-filled them for me before sending them out.

HUGE DIFFRENCE.

My SP shocks basically bottomed out under their own weight all the time and sucked. That no longer happens confidence went way up!

I'm currently dropping weight like crazy from working out and snowmobiling a lot, so I wanted air shocks, easy to adjust without having to order springs.

I haven't even messed with them the initial settings Tom's gave me seem to work really well.. way better than the SP ones by a mile.

Go to monster performance and email Ian he is knowledgable and honest he will give you the best suggestions for your riding style, weight, budget etc. I went with Zbroz Exit X1s all around and love them but I saw an interesting combo the other day X2s on the skid and Float 3s up front.

Also look at Elka or Ohlin if you have the budget

Im looking at upgrading my front shocks on my BC, just have the rebuildable hpg's, and after this weekend ride it is a must. I bottomed out numerous time in whoops and they just feel so soft!

Did a fair amount of reading on the floats and think i may go that route. Ebay there are float 2 evols for $550 range is this a good idea? I don't have 900 to spend on shocks but want an upgrade.

Anyone have any insight on these?
